Re: Are we there yet?

No. Chronic illness and a year's flare up stopped play. My loss is GameEx's gain, as you're about to find out, though.

Re: Are we there yet?

😂 Damn, karma's a bugger....  I remember annoyingly continuously asking that question about Evo until I incurred the wrath of a moderator who had to silence me! Not sure who that was...    😁 It's gonna be a while, mate. Project's grown a bit now I have time to do it 'properly.' One thing that has a...

Re: .xml or .ini for FE and emulator configuration?

Draco1962  Hey, Mike. So one of OGZ's core design ethics is to move away from editing files directly and make all operations possible from a single, unified wysiwyg GUI. All setups are also contained in a single database file, which means that setups can be made across a whole home network (imagine...

Re: Your Perfect Front End?

@Draco1962 - Thanks for the detail- all good stuff. When you say intuitive controls setup - is that meaning the controls for the front end (game pads and keyboard, I'm imagining?)

Re: Nightmare day brought back from the brink....

apocalypse-1400x788.jpg   Apocalypse now!  Well, nearly. Urgh - what a day. Following on from my last post, made some great progress with ASP.net MVC. Spent a couple of days looking into this and it's a very usable tool.  However, had a devastating turn this morning where I thought I'd lost a lot o...

Database doldrums....

Blurgh... things have taken a bit of a different tac. Firstly, I've decided to explore asp.net MVC for my website as I just want to cut the cord from wordpress for my main site. Just too clunky. Secondly, I'm seriously considering changing my approach to game metadata and assets.  Both of these have...

Re: Your Perfect Front End?

I used to want a frankenPC that did it all, but anymore it's just unnecessary bloat.  I just want a simple frontend that is "set up and go", not something I have to customize like crazy to get it where I want.  Currently, GameEx AE is the thing that is nearest to this functionality, to me.  Simple ...

Top 5 of my perfect system:

Easily skinned and customizable.

Custom menus

Easily configured emulator setup

No HTPC features

Intuitive controls setup

Thanks, Draco! Most of the above will be do-able. Tell me a little more about each one, as the devil is going to be in the detail...
